The spending limit figure has been agreed at a general meeting and recorded in the minutes.
Set the spending limit
Go to Settings → Spending limit and enter the dollar threshold agreed at the general meeting. This controls the maximum single-item expenditure the committee can approve without a resolution.
Approve within-limit spend
Work orders and expenses at or below the limit can be approved directly by an authorised committee member. StrataOwn records the approver and timestamp for audit purposes.
Obtain a resolution for over-limit spend
When a work order or expense exceeds the limit, StrataOwn blocks approval and prompts you to attach an authorising resolution. Record the resolution reference and attach the meeting minutes extract.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the typical spending limit?expand_more
Common figures range from $500 to $3,000 per item depending on scheme size and state. Some states prescribe a statutory cap — StrataOwn will warn if your configured limit exceeds the statutory maximum.
Does the limit apply to each invoice or to a project total?expand_more
The limit applies per item (work order or expense record). Splitting a single project into multiple invoices to stay under the limit is considered an avoidance technique and may breach your obligations under the Act.
