Understanding quorum
What quorum means, how it is calculated, and what happens when a meeting starts without enough attendees.
Before you start

The meeting has been created and notices have been issued.
- check_circle
Lot entitlements are correctly recorded in the strata roll.
Open the meeting workspace
Navigate to Meetings and open the meeting. The Quorum indicator at the top of the workspace shows live attendance against the threshold.
Mark attendees as present
Check in each lot owner or proxy as they arrive. StrataOwn recalculates quorum automatically based on the registered attendees and their unit entitlements.
Open or adjourn
When the quorum indicator turns green, you can open the meeting. If quorum is not reached within the waiting period allowed by your state's Act, use Adjourn meeting to reschedule.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is quorum calculated?expand_more
Most state Acts set quorum as a fixed fraction of lots or unit entitlements — commonly one quarter. StrataOwn uses the threshold defined in your scheme's settings. Proxy votes count toward quorum.
What happens at an adjourned meeting?expand_more
An adjourned meeting that reconvenes typically proceeds regardless of the number attending, subject to your state's rules. StrataOwn flags this status and allows you to open the resumed meeting without the quorum check.
